How to install a CCTV systems and save some cost

What if you feel like saving some cost for installing a CCTv systems? You can do and try to install the systems yourself. here are steps that you can use to start installing CCTV system at your own DIY style.

Steps 1. Planning.

You need to plan before you start. There are two ways of installing a cctv camera, wireless or wired. With wired camera you can used a coaxial cables RG59 or CAT5e cable.Here, I will emphasis more on installing CCTV using coaxial RG59 cable. Decide the locations of the camera that suit your need. Also find a location for the DVR, my advice, find a place where it is secure for example, the master bedroom. Make sure that the location has easy access to internet point and a power point and also easy to run the cables.

Steps 2. Run the cables

Get the RG59 coaxial cable and power cable (in this case you can use a twin flat cable for power). Run each cables either using conduit or just simple surface from the DVR to each of the locations of the camera. Follow the attached video for fixing the BNC plug to the RG59 at both ends and also the power cables. Make sure that the positive power of the cable connected to the positive of the power adapter. Wrong connections may result damage to your camera unit.

This is a twisted BNC conector.

Steps 3. Installing the camera.

If you installing a dome camera you may want the cable goes through the ceiling. Connect the RG59 and the power cable to the camera. Affix the camera to the ceiling or the wall.

Steps 4. Installing the DVR

Tidy up the cables nicely. Connect the power cable to the adapter which is connected to the power supply. Connct the RG59 to the DVR. If you have the internet, connect the cable as well and the other end to the router or modem. The monitor was connected to the DVr using RCA or VGA cables. After all cables in place switch the DVR and the monitor power on.

Steps 5. Adjust the camera.

Take of the camera cover to get the correct angle to what you want to focus at. When you are happy with the angle, clean the cover with dry cloth and fix the camera cover back. Complete!! and the systems is ready to use.
Note : Most of the DVR did not come with HDD (hard disk) you may want the vendor or seller to fix the HDD for you and pre-setting the DVR for you. This to avoid hassles when fixing the CCTV systems.

Why do we need to install CCTV? What is the main purpose? Whatever the answer is, knowing the needs and the purpose will help us to select and choose type of camera and cctv systems we want to install.

1. Dome Camera :- Because of it shape, it was named. Most of the dome camera was built for indoor use. It is not suitable for outdoor because of the casing which is not water proof. We also can find dome camera comes in hard casing which is call Anti Vandalism Dome Camera. The casing of camera is design to protect the camera from being vandalized. We also can select Infra Red Dome Camera which is best used in the dark area. The Infrared illumination will let the image be seen and recorded even in dark environment and the common dome camera is good to be put in ordinary room.

The bullet type camera is a long cylinder type camera. To install this camera, a bracket to hold it against the wall or ceiling is needed and usually comes together. Unlike dome camera, this type of camera have a weather proof casing which helps to prevent water from the rain which can spoil the camera chip-set. Because of the casing and bracket , this camera is suitable to be place outside the building. The sunshade which attached to the casing will help to block the sunlight from damaging the camera. Most of the camera also have infra red illuminations which is one of the reason it is suitable to put in the open space to capture images in the night.This are 2 basic things that need to know when looking for a camera:-

a)Lens. -Lenses come in many types and sizes. DVR - Digital Video Recording Once you have what you need on the camera, next step is looking for a DVR, Digital Video Recorder, a unit that will saved all the data/images captured by the camera. The DVR standalone systems is a DVR that does not connect to another DVR. In the market we can find 4 , 8 or 16 channel dvr. Depends on the need of the users, the DVR can save as much data as needed provided the hard disk is sufficient. The hard disk of the DVR is a removable parts and can be upgraded. The size of the hard disk determines the capacity of the DVR recording. Most of the DVR today can be connect through internet and view remotely either by computers or handphones. Try to think for the future which will led to save cost. if currently, only 4 units of camera is needed, you may opt for 8 channel dvr. In the future if you may need more camera to be installed, you only need to purchase the camera without another dvr. Look for dvr which have internet ready, if you don't have it currently, maybe in the future you might need it. This will avoid you to purchase another new systems. There is so much things happen in my life. There were time when i felt sad, depressed, lonely or just bored and times where I felt life is so much beautiful and amazing. Times where there is laughter and smiles. Times where there is joy and fun. Those are the times that could I would like to remember and brings me smiles again when I am feeling sad or lonely. The children, the little beautiful children in my life, my three golden angels that makes my world such a wonderful place to be.

Erika, the eldest among the angels, fast talker but an obedient child. Being the eldest, helping her mom doing housework is something that was expected. Loving and caring towards her younger sibling is another thing I am really proud of.

Then, there is Sean, the only ultraMAN in the house, He is the best when it comes to food. When he was in primary two all he want to be when he grows up is a Chef for a reason that he can learn to cook the good stuff and eat it. The talent is in him, at the age of 8 he can cook instant noodles and doing a lot of experiment with a fried egg.

Emma, the youngest, sweet, clever and cute as she is, bring smile to everyone by just looking at her. Lucky her to have a loving brother and sister which pampered her. Her white pale skin and her thin hair is lovely. Like to be hold and hug. An angel just for being her.

There were so much memories I had with them and the good times were more than the bad one. Lucky, with the still camera technology, those good times were freeze as a photo. Those smiles in their face will be last forever in me but the pictures of their smiles is something pretty to look at. Playing among themselves or their cousin, makes a star just another brick wall to look at. They amazed me.

Erika, Sean and Emma, holding, kissing and hearing them say goodnight before they surrendered into beds make me want to wake early the next morning and see those wonderful smile again. Though there was a lot of good memories I had with them but there were one the happiest moment.

A picninc at Sungai Matang, Kuching. Emma was 2 years old, Sean was in primary 2 and Erika was 14. It was a beautiful sunny day, and without planning, I took them off in car to this place. In just few minutes upon reaching, we all were in the stream. The cold water and watching the children having fun bring peace to me. Emma with her newly bought floater was laughing her lungs out. Sean was teasing her. Erika, being a teen, watching them with a big grind on her face. Those moment was very special, the moment I watch my children happy and tears of joy running down my cheeks makes this the special moment for me.Erika, Sean and Emma .. Daddy loves you then, Daddy loves you now and Daddy will loves you till the end of time....

.. From Lawas it is a long journey to Mukah.. we spent one whole day on the road and reaching Mukah approximately 6 pm. Staying on the sea side Resort was great but only that we have no time to enjoy it. The Mukah delicacies was not to miss, Umai.. is the first thing on our menu for dinner. We headed to Sibu the next morning . Stop at Kanowit and finish at Sibu General hospital before finishing that day. Overnite at Sibu's hotel and woke up very early to catch the first express boat to Song which leaving the terminal at 5.45 am.

Arrive at Song's terminal we have our breakfast. In the market we ate some durians and taste the "ijok". A small town but lively. Next is Kapit. Another one and a half our ride using express boat. From Kapit, we took the 3.30 pm Express boat back to Sibu. Enjoying the night life in Sibu with some friendsThe schedule for Bintangor the next morning before another night at Sarikei. Dabai and salted fish was bought to bring home. The eleventh day after going to all major city and town in Sarawak, it was the journey I am looking forward too. A journey going back to HOME. After completing jobs in Saratok and Betong, finally, home at last. 4.30 . touch down in KUCHING!! Outstation Job Completed without much problems.

Sixth Day on The Road ... from lawas to Labuan

Today is the sixth day, Saturday, 1st of October 2011, there is no work to be done today and it means holiday.. what we have planned for today is to go to Labuan, a duty free island. We are all excited as this is the 1st time we going there except for Praveen. After we had our breakfast at the coffee shop near the hotel, we hop on the van and off we go ...

45 minit later , we arrived at Sipitang , Sabah.. a beautiful town on sea shore .. stop for a while and enjoy the scenic on the Sipitang Esplanad, before we continue .. along the way we passed Beaufort before reaching Menumbok. Menumbok is where the feri or the speed boat boat terminal located to go to Labuan. With RM 15.00 one way , we ride the speedboat for another hour before reaching the destination.

In Labuan, most of the restaurant were serving Indian food.. Though we reluctant to take more curries, we have too filled the stomach. As most of the visitors or tourist come to the island, we also start entering the duty free shop and start bargaining .. Liquors and cigars with tax free seems so cheap compare to what we have at home.. with a couple of bucks, a car or a motorcycle can be rent but we did not take both.. we prefer walking, the best way to view the town up close and personal.

After few hours on the island with hands full of plastic bags containing branded liquors, cigarette, cloth, chocolate and souvenirs items, we heade to the terminal to catch the last speedboat back to Menumbok.As the day getting darker, we stop once more at Sipitang Food Centre near the esplanad. A memorable events occured when out of the blue, Razlan of Kristal (famous Malaysian Rock Band) came to the table and began shooting for an ASTRO channel 108 shows. The greatest moment trough out the whole journey so far.

Fifth Day On The Road ... Limbang and Lawas..

That morning we headed to Limbang from Miri. Brunei Darulsallam is in between Miri city and Limbang, We need to cross the border in order to get to Limbang. Passport ready and crossing the immigration checking point is not a problem.

Limbang seems crowded on that friday afternoon. The bank was packed. We took one hour to complete the job and rush to Lawas at 2.30 pm

Lawas Branch is closing by the time we reach there though have ti work extra hour but we manage to complete the assigment for that day. Spent a night at Lawas and tomorrow (saturday) is a holliday. Our plan, going to Labuan!!

Fourth day on the road .. Marudi...

It is going to be a rough ride on the fourth day on the road, this time is MARUDI. A small town located two and a half hour from Miri. An access by land is only through an estate road.Though optional, it can be reach using an express boat, we took the van and enjoying the ride.

Lucky that day there wasn't any rain and the road is hard. The drive was smoothly with minor problem when the van got stuck in the sand but with the help of the people we manage to pass the obstacle. The dusty and bumpy road with two ferries have to be on board

Reaching the town, we find out that the regatta is going to be held the next day and it brings a lot of people coming down to the town. Sultanah of Brunei and TYT of Sarawak will be here to witness the regatta. It is bad that we coulndn't stay long to join the festival as our journey is still long.

Back in Miri, we still in time to do one more service at the ATM off premise located at e-mart. We finish there.

Third day on the road ... Bintulu and Miri

Biometric is based upon distinguishable physical of human attribute such as finger print, voice, iris or face feature. The most popular and commonly biometric device is fingerprint reader or scanner.

For access door system, the biometric fingerprint reader is connected to an electronic door. I met a business partner at lunch time the other day, as we are eating, we talked about business and how we can earn maximum profit from what ever we do. We exchange ideas, experience and stories. He told me, to survive in this market; we need to diversify our business. Either expands your business and giving more services and products which is not in your company but in the same industry or venture to total new industries.

To let reader understand more about diversification in marketing, here’s a link to wikipedia, in simple words, spreading your business into a different category.

And let me share you what is he doing , he owns a medium company mostly provide supplies of machinery and stationeries to his client. Since he was dealing and makings trips to his client, they get to be close. A relationship from client to friends. As the relationship build stronger and the trust growing, the opportunity to make business also increase. Once the client needs a new supplies or service, they will look for him for advice. My friend, being a smart businessman, sees the opportunity and without extra time to think grabs the opportunity by open up another company and render the service to his client. Now, instead of supplying to them the machine and stationeries, he also do the cleaning services. That is how I see diversification comes in. From supplying, he spread his business to servicing.

Few weeks later, I met another friend, He was a Managing Director for Construction Company and most of their projects involved with design and build buildings and also roads which make them want of the big player in the industries. He told me, he has spent a lot of his time traveling to ensure all the projects done accordingly, now he was tired and need to slow down and spend more time with his family. One way to make this happen is to venture into agriculture. In agriculture, there will be less traveling because the plantations in not moving anywhere and it will much easier to maintain the business. From construction to agriculture, another diversification. But what interest me more is how he plan for the benefit of all the employee in the company.

With the current global economic situation, huge projects are not as much as before and the competitive in the market is very high. He worried about the company business in the future when there is not enough projects to sustains the company where there is about 200 staffs is working and overhead expenses is high. To reduce the headcounts is one of the way but would it be fair to the staff who has been loyal to the company and spend 10 or 20 years helping to build it up? With the plantations, the risk can be reduce and if there is a need , the staff could easily transfer to plantations management. A great idea.. don’t you think so?

This is why, I am looking to diversify my business as well. It is not greed but when opportuniy knocks.. Only stupid people will turn it down. I want to get prepared and earn what I could.

.. what do you know about Law of Attraction? Anyway , this subject came up when i was spoken to a dearest friend through telephone. She just bought a book written by Rhonda Byne , also author of The Secret, tittles The Power. She very excited in telling me about the Law Of Attraction and it has interest me.. simple as it is, Law of Attraction , if you think positive in the things you going to do , it will come positive. Confidence is the attitude to make the Law of Attraction works.

.. A job done at STIDC, Wisma Sumber Alam , Kuching. Wasn't much but this is the first job we got in 2011. Hoping for a lot more, we have to work extra hard.
.. for a new born company like us, a continuous job like this is good for our survival. At least it keep our bowl full. Still this is not enough because as a person, i do dream big .. i wish to live in luxury and money is not my problem.
i writing things on this blog is to keep my self motivated and keep on dreaming ..

.. still here in the office alone doing all the paper work and thinking. there plans need execute. jobs need ro complete. things need to think.. sometimes, am just a salesman who sells things? why there are so many things need to do and seems all the thing i have to do by myself . is it worth what i am doing now for someone i call BOSS?.. what will i gain from all the hard work i am doing to the company?? .. the mmeting i attained, the client i entertain? the time i spent , the money i waste ?? .. what will this bring back to me? i just wish a good life with no much worries and full stomach...

.. i was there, at DID, Kota Samarahan. Installing CCTV . One of our technician is on holiday and the job need to be done and finish urgently , so i have to take an initiative and step in to do the technical work. It is a huge place and it took us one week to complete it. Though it is only four units of cctv but the huge area is a challenge for us to complete the job before the date line.
.. under the rain and sun , we have to deliver what we have promised our client .It was tiring but the end result make us proud. Worth every sweat and tears ..

.. If ever my client ask me, " Do you know ABC company". I will give a honest answer, like , i do or I don't. Usually if i say i do, they will continue asking me with questions like, how is their products or how is their company or how is their service. I would say that, my only concern is on my company and the products that i am selling. I would tell them, that i believe in my own products and what good it will bring to my them (my client). It is not my habit to compare my brand with other brand or to condemned my competitors.
I believe as a professional salesman, it is not a correct way to do business by telling bad about other people or their products.
For me, the client would respect us more and put more faith towards me or my products because it show my professionalism in dealing business. Not only will you gained their business but you will gain new friends.
Condemned ... it is a very rude and bad habit.. one should not have this type of character. not only in business but in our daily life , we should not condemned our friends, strangers or even our enemy.
But stay positive, be confidence , look in the mirror and says to yourself," I am the best!!".

9 marketing tip from a six year old's lemonade stand

The other day my daughter, Sophia, announced that she wanted to set up a lemonade stand.

Seeing as how I didn’t really want to spend the better part of my weekend selling lemonade, I tried to talk her out of it by showing her how much she’d need to spend to buy the lemonade mix, get the cups, that sort of thing.

Regardless of my best efforts, there was no changing her mind. She wanted to go into business and there wasn’t anything I was going to do to stop her.

So as I succumbed to my role as venture capitalist in her first business startup. I decided that at the very least, this would be a great chance to teach my daughter about counting money, basic business principals, that sort of thing.

We sat down with a pad of paper and started writing the business plan.

It didn’t take long before Sophia, becoming completely exasperated with my efforts to teach her about price structure and ROI, looked up at me and said:

“But Daddy, I just want to give it away. Our neighbors are so nice, I just want to give them the lemonade.”

Wow! What do you say to that? She hit me with a complete game changer that I didn’t expect.

Suddenly, the lemonade stand had taken on an entirely different meaning.

So we put away the business plan, she drew up a sign and my wife helped her mix a pitcher of lemonade.

Just as we were about to open for business, Sophia came in from the back porch with a sprig of mint she had cut from a pot.

“Can we put mint in the lemonade?” she asked. “I want to make it extra special.”

And with that, on a Sunday afternoon in a quiet neighborhood, she was open for business.

Within a few minutes, one of our neighbors who had heard about the project came over with 50 cents to buy a glass of lemonade. Twice the price my daughter was originally planning to charge.

“But it’s free” Sophia told her.

“That’s OK. I want to pay you for the lemonade”, she replied.

Not knowing what to do with the money, Sophia put it in a cup and set the cup on the table (where everyone could see it).

Before long, more neighbors came by, each one giving her at least 50 cents. When a car would pass, she would jump up and down and scream, “Free lemonade” hoping they would stop.

For the most part they didn’t. However, at one point, one did and the driver handed her three dollars for his glass of lemonade – 1,100 percent more then if she’d gone with her father’s suggestion of 25 cents per cup.

By the end of the day, Sophia had made a whopping eight dollars at her “free” lemonade stand.

When it was all said and done, I realized that although my original business lessons didn’t stick with my daughter, I learned a lot about marketing.

Here are nine lemonade stand tips that you can use to market your services:

1. Give people something for free and they will feel obligated to return the favor

When you help someone, it creates a natural desire to return the favor. As a web designer, provide helpful tips on your blog, participate in forums offering advice and helping non-designers, share ideas on Twitter. In doing so, you’ll not only build trust, but also develop relationships with potential clients.

2. Give potential customers a taste of your offerings

Offer free themes or templates with an easy upgrade to “pro” versions. Provide free stock graphics that hint at potential identity or branding packages while demonstrating your creativity. Just be sure to make it good. When users are excited about the base product, they are much more likely to upgrade.

3. Make it “Extra Special”

Don’t just offer lemonade. Put in that extra sprig of mint. Make everything you do something “extra special” and clients will take notice. Not only will they come back for more, they’ll tell their friends.

4. Don’t Be Afraid to Tell Your “Neighbors” (Network!)

One of the first things my daughter did when she opened her stand was run next door and tell the neighbor. After getting his lemonade, he called two other neighbors to tell them about the lemonade stand – both of whom came right over with “donations”. Don’t be afraid to tell friends and colleagues about your services. You never know, they may talk to your next big client later that day.

5. Do What You Need to Do to Be Seen

It wasn’t enough to just put up a sign. My daughter’s advertising consisted of jumping up and down screaming “free lemonade” at passing cars. While it might seem extreme, it worked. How are you “screaming” about your business?

6. Be Persistent

Even though most of the cars passed by, my daughter didn’t give up. Finally, after many failed attempts, one of them did stop—doubling her income for the day.

7. Build Anticipation

My daughter’s first customer knew about her project and was there as soon as it opened. Don’t just launch your new web site, let people know it’s coming. Drop hints, show them screen shots, make them look forward to the big day.

8. Find Good Partners

My daughter’s little brother kept drinking the lemonade – not the best partner. However, her friend from down the street was out there with her jumping up and down screaming, doubling their advertising efforts.

9. Advertise Your Popularity

Once my daughter’s cup started filling with coins, people were more likely to “donate”. Don’t be afraid to advertise your popularity. Place download counters, comment counts and subscriber numbers in prominent places. Just make sure the stats are high enough to warrant a little bragging.

YES!!! vision for the year 2011 should be in your head by now , as for me .. i have my plan , the only thing need to be done now is to come up with a way to execute the plan and make it happen ..

.. what a life .. it has been a hard day for myself, spending time and money on tenders, quotations and proposals but yet to make any big sales yet. It was busy all day long still couldn't get few bucks to pocket in .. tire and frustration .. what next to be done ..?? give up or just move on ??

.. feeling what i felt make me sad and the worse thing is, i couldn't concentrate on my work .. my prospect .. feels like wanted to jump off the roof and klet everything in the brain splash out .. all with my worries ..

.. i need something to cheer me up, and this moment i would just imagine that i am sitting on a high stool at the bar.. sipping a cold beers .. and let the mind wandered anywhere .. listening to a slow rock music .. this is what i want to do .. relax talking to someone not about work or business , football perhaps or just sharing jokes..

.. or i could just be in my kitchen , cooking instant noodles with egg and some greens.. hot coffee ... and a soft rock and roll music .. would be nice to .. reading entertainment magazines or just staring at the wall ..

.. maybe, lay down on a white sandy beach is a good idea, feels the warm breeze of the sea touching the skin .. a sound of coconut three harassing each other.. smoking my cigar.. a packet of twisties with a glass of brandy coke ..

Work hard and you will get what you should deserved. Not only work smart but also work smart.. in sales, work hard is what you have to do. this is what i believe. but i also do believe that if you work hard and yet did not do the planning , strategies, all the hard work may just go in drain.
My friend, told me one day, " bob, you know? i have been to the new housing estate and the were lots of houses just completed. i finish my name card. I put it every mailbox i can see. now , could you order some more for me, I might be going somewhere else but doing the same thing".
As you can see, my friend has done his job, he is distributing his contact no to a potential clients. Base on my experience, the chances he will get a return call is very low. Maybe 1 in 300 name card that he has given. Not really effective strategy if you see the ratio.
It will better if he wait till afternoon, when all the home owner coming home. Meeting face to face with a prospect will bring better chance of doing business.
Like one of my friend told me, " In the Afternoon, I might pretend to jog around the area to see if any prospect is around. This is the best time to approach them and tell them your product. Bring a leisure and informal introduction of yourself, don't just go straight to business, it might scared the prospect away".
My self agree with what my second friend is doing, try it out one day, my own neighborhood , of course, I met 5 person and out of that i manage to close 2 sales agreement. Now, do your own mathematics and calculate the ratio.
Never never miss and appointment because meeting face to face bring greater chances to get the business rather than converse through telephone or email.
Now, go out and jogging .. killing two birds in one stone. Or just put your namecard in the mailbox ???

i have found a cool site to create a website, the best thing, it is free. I have spent few hours in creating new website for my company . As a beginner i found that it wasn't so hard . With the video tutorial that was given, and step that was written clearly , a newbies like me would have a great time exploring and experimenting it.
Spending so much time on for a subject to be post, was the reason it took more than it should be. try it .

i am totally agree with what have written ..part of my routine is giving away my name cards .. where ever i go , i always have my name cards in my pocket . This is the easiest way to introduce my self and what am i doing for a living. people or prospect will immediately have an idea of what my business is . through out my experience as a sales person, name cards has been a very useful tools for me to build up my business network..

aside giving away my business cards, always ask back from the prospect. and once you get hold of it ,,=.. keep it and remember to follow up ..

every morning as i traveled to the office, i always think what i should do later.. what am i going to make today that this day will be a great day?.. will be fruitful and goes well for the business .. what is the plan? .. how to grow my prospect? .. extend my network .. this question is always the first question that goes to my mind every time i took the journey to the office... will i survive??
selling is tough .. salesman career is tougher than most of what people think ..
but once you got into it .. you will never leave it .. whatever products we are selling , it does not matter .. the passion , the love for what we do .. keep us going .. solving or minimise people problems, take over the responsibility to create an opportunity for people to have a better life .. is part of the job .. if you seriouly see the selling or marketing career not only part of your job but part of your life ... you will enjoy what you are doing .. I AM ENJOYING every moment of meeting people , porpose a solution to a problem and getting reward for it ..
after all the job i being paid for .. selling is the job i do BEST!!!

momentum .. last week and this week was a good business week for me .. with friends support , i have makes some deals ... tho it wasn't a big catch but it does keep me going and give me a push when i need it. those friends, i like to thank them , you , my friend have believed in me and giving me an opportunity to provide you a service you rendered. In business , friends and acquaintances are a very important tools in moving forward. through friends and acquaintances , network is build. Through network, business will grow...
As the things was running to what i have expected, something happened. In the office, after all the business i brought in, the work i have done, the job i completed, still there is none i can give to satisfy my boss. Not that i am complaining, he has the right to tell me if i have done wrong... i was sad .. feeling down .. not very happy .. all feeling mixed up ..
.. the next morning, i went for a stroll at Kuching Waterfront, a place i have not been for quite some time .. still the same tho except for the longer waterfront .. nice place to relax the mind .. with breeze blowing .. i end up at Tun Jugah Centre, walk into a Popular book store .. as i was browsing the books, one got me interested, written by the man himself, Donald Trump, .. here he talk about momentum, s i remembered .. the story he shared was about another man who was doing very well in the realty business but failed as he losses his momentum .. that story has lighten my spirit .. and here i am again .. once more .. try to change my life and be a better person .. never ever lose a momentum when you are at your best .. !!!

.. sibu municipal council has taken a great steps to ensure the city is a safer palce to live. with existing 11 units cctv installed in sibu town, there are still planning to add on 42 more cctv in various places with the advice of the police department. In Kuching, i sure hope that DBKU and MBKS will thought about taking the same measurement to reduce the crime rates . And other council will follow the SNC as an example.

.. it has been almost a month since we move to this new office . The business running as usual, since is a new born company , we have to struggled in the market but the spirit to make it a successful company has kept us attached to each other and survived the first critical month . and i am guessing we will have another hectic month ahead . As far as i am concern, there is a huge market for the product i am selling and the current situation of the company does not bother me at all .. but sometimes the work load and the responsibility that i am carrying make me frustrated.
.. as the senior of the rest of my colleague, i have to show them that there is nothing to worry about even we are 1 month old.. but i do need their support as well .. no one can stand alone .. everybody needs somebody .. a supportive hands.. a thoughts to share .. a shoulder to cry on ..

Last monday, 14th of June, i went back to sibu on business trip. The target was goverment offices and corporates. A night in Sibu and the next morning was a success meeting. From sibu we went to Sarikei to meet the resindence, while we were there we met our uncle. That night, at uncle's house we have lots lots of fun. Too many Booze and foods .. headache!! but still we managed to continue our trip the next morning, down to Saratok and betong for the IPD projects ..

Reaching office in Kuching around 3.30 pm .. good and joyous trip .. !!

this year, 1st June 2010, i went to Sibu to celebrate gawai at my Boss long house. It was my first experience to celebrate the gawai, ibanese way .. it was a wonderful and joyous celebration . What makes it more interesting , the neighbor long house was having Gawai Hantu which happens occasionally . I took the opportunity to enjoy my self with a lots of tuaks, a local rice wines, and of course if you drank a lot of it, you might get a headache on the next day..
besides drinks .. food was a LOT! pork.. chicken.. ducks .. deers .. fishes .. that looks never finish .. cook in traditional recipe makes the food more appetizing .. pansuh!! GREAT!!
The ngajat!! a warrior dance .. one of the traditional dances of iban community .. poco poco .. a dance from indonesia ... joget , bermukun .. betabuh ... gongs .. rebana ..empty cans .. this is the music instruments .. combines to raise a beautiful sounds ..
7 days and 6 nights i spent my time at rumah jarrau , kpg tanjung bekakap , sibu .. giving me a deep impact on the life of iban community and their traditional celebrations way .. one thing i can say .. those iban in Tanjung Bekakap really knows how to enjoy their life ... me, was very fortunate to meet them and join in their Gawai's celebration and i was more appreciate that i was accepted being part of their community ..
I have a feeling that i will be back there soon .. really really soon ... for people in Tanjung Bekakap ... Thank you .. my gratitude's to you all and those memories in Jun 2010 .. will be kept in a special corner of my heart ..

so i guess this quote has said it, selfishness is not a bad thing after all .. it is a way to be success .. definitions of selfishness ;Caring supremely or unduly for one's self; regarding one's own comfort, advantage, etc., in disregard, or at the expense, of those of others. .. what we want to achieve, even if there are consequences to other people , we still do it.. this is what people think when we are talking about selfishness.. the negative thought will jump into every mind . but it you see it the way i see it , u will understand what i meant by ; it is not a bad thing'

I am being selfish, this is what i heard .. well, my boss being very good to me .. bought me a uniform which cost more than RM 300.00. It is not a big issues.. at least that what i think .. but i am the only one who received such a good benefit. I deserved what i received .. no doubt that everybody has done a great job to make sure that this company can stand on his own and continuing standing.. but when all the responsibilities are putting on my shoulders, the managing, the resourcing and almost everything .. the building and growing up of a new company is a tough thing to do .. by doing it all alone, it is an impossible task... the friends and colleagues , i have now, hopefully will give me all the support that i need.. not envy or jealousy that i am looking for but a partnership to bloom in the competitive market.

The extra attention i got, may cause certain people says that i am playing with the balls .. all i want and need at the moment is to be a success person in the industries .. and i try to play it honestly.. All i do to get the attention is to full fill my personal sales target and working hard to look for more... i did my work my work accordingly without thoughts of screwed someone else .. but if it does happen unconsciously than it a big mistake i have done and i humbly apologies..

Saturday .. another rainy weekend .. sleepless night makes me thought of my dear bed early in the morning .. nothing else on plan by my mind except that i am going to take a good rest .. stay home and watched DVDs marathon of old movies.. got my self a ROCKY DVDs from the first movie till the final of Rocky Balboa .. going to be a great weekend i hope ..
"It is not what you hear that matters but what you see and think. do not believe others words that was said to you .. it could be the truth or it could be lies .. you will never know.. to be fair, instead of just listen to one side of the story , go and confront the other party.. or maybe you just might go and dig the truth yourself.. only then you know what is your next step.. and what should you do .. .. black and white ?? .. synonym with destruction , death, good and evil .. that is the theme for our annual family day this year .. none to be blame but i am the one who choose the theme.. and of course it was agreed until something happened and it has become a joke .. and i am the red butt monkey!!
to begin with, E.T alarm and automation is going to reduce their manpower.. to make things worst .. rumoured started that will be more than 70% of our staff will be retrenched.. who's gonna feed the spouse and the children? .. there mortgage to be paid!!! bank loans!! everything needs $$$$$$ but if the rumoured is not only a rumoured then we all need to be ready , prepared to be one of the "unemployment citizen" and be a bum .. the office has turn into sanctuary for the dead .. sadden faces.. silent .. words of anger ... whispers of cursing !!.. every movement .. every action means nothing but rebels!!.. the echo of dissatisfaction is in the air .. to step into the office is like walking into a cage where tigers and lions fight among themselves. what have cause the chaos? damned !! black and white!! damned to all of us!! damned!! the yelling and shouting fills every hearts and mind , ready to blows out .. DAMNED!! no one yet to say a thing to the one who needs to listen .. this all happened less than a month ago ...
Now, there are two company sharing in one office.. like families sharing a room, there is always a disagreement.. there will be pillow fights .. still end of each day no one wins but the room in a messed!! now the children have to clean it back .. at least there is communication between them ..

As part of ET alarm, the company has being working under the shadow of her mother company.. as it grows, the company was taught to be independent.. though it is a difficult to gain recognition the tough market , STB has all the support from ET alarm. The staff has been transfered to STB, bringing along their experience. With the experience and knowledge of multi purpose staff, STB is trying to survive and earns profit as a business organisation.
The situation is slowly improving and most of the staff has accepted the changes in the management. Now it is up to us to grow together in unity to build a better place to work.

Tomorrow will be a big day for us here at E.T Alarm and Automation Sdn Bhd . It will be the first day of our company family trip which will be held at Damai Puri Resort & Spa, Kuching. Everyone seems eager to enjoy themselves and I as one of the organising committee has been very busy doing the planning with hope that everyone will received equal treat and happy through out the three days family trip.

This year, with the help from everybody , we managed to get sponsorship from various company and we have met our target.

IP Megapixel CCTV Camera

Separating the facts from fiction in the industry.

In the last few years, demand for digital megapixel cameras has exploded. The trend started in the late 1990s with consumer digital still cameras and started to gain traction in the surveillance industry in 2002 with megapixel IPnetwork cameras. Today, millions of consumer digital still cameras and tens of thousands of megapixel network cameras are being used every day.

Digital Convenience and More

Initially, digital cameras, both consumer and security IPnetwork cameras, were adopted because of their convenience. For the consumer market, it meant no more fumbling with film and the home PC made sharing pictures with family and friends quick and easy. With security cameras, the convenience of plugging a camera into your existing IPnetwork and viewing it from anywhere in the world within minutes was immediately compelling. Interestingly though, the evolution of the consumer and security markets differ substantially when it comes to image quality.

In the consumer market, picture quality was not a marketable advantage for digital over film because film cameras already had excellent resolution. In the security industry however, megapixel network cameras had a clear-cut image quality advantage from the start, since traditional coaxial-based CCTVcameras are limited to PAL/NTSC resolution.

Megapixel IPCameras'Image Quality Advantage

The picture quality advantages of megapixel network cameras benefited end-users in a couple of ways. In some applications, a megapixel network camera could cover the same area as a CCTV camera with an improved level of picture quality so you could actually identify people. We are all too familiar with images captured by CCTVsystems where the quality was so poor little could be learned and often no positive identification possible. Megapixel network cameras solved this major disadvantage.

For other applications, megapixel meant covering a much wider area than CCTVcameras. Comparing apples-to-apples, a one megapixel network camera can cover more than four times the area of a CCTVcamera with the same resolution. This means you can replace four CCTVcameras with a single megapixel camera, or 10 CCTVcameras with one 3.1 megapixel camera. End-users embraced this new power and efficiency immediately and the migration from CCTVto megapixel network cameras has predictably accelerated.

With no legitimate way to combat loss of market share and still remain profitable, some began misrepresenting megapixel cameras to discourage the rapid migration away from their technology.

Do you know the real story?

True or False? Megapixel network cameras can be less costly than CCTVcameras.

TRUE! There have been misrepresentations that megapixel network cameras cost more than CCTVcameras. The initial cost of a professional quality megapixel network camera may be higher than a CCTVcamera. However, in a large majority of applications, the total cost of installing a system using megapixel network cameras is substantially lower, sometimes as much as
50% lower.

If you are considering using a megapixel network camera as a one-for-one replacement of a CCTVcamera, and there is no established IPnetwork, megapixel may be more expensive than CCTV. But the only reason to even consider swapping one-for-one is because the CCTVcamera cannot deliver the image quality you need. Put another way, a tricycle is indeed cheaper than a Ferrari, but if you need to go 200 mph, try doing it on that nice cheap tricycle.

True or False? Megapixel network cameras use more bandwidth and storage than CCTVcameras.

FALSE! Of course megapixel images are larger than CCTVimages, but once again this is not an accurate or helpful comparison. If you want to replace CCTV cameras one-for-one with megapixel cameras, it is because the CCTVcamera cannot deliver the image quality you demand, period! A more instructive and fair analysis is to compare the files sizes of four 704 x 480 CCTVcameras against a single 1280 x 1024 megapixel image. If all cameras are configured the same, with the same compression, and are looking at the same scene at the same time you will find that a megapixel network camera actually uses less bandwidth and storage than the CCTV cameras combined.

CCTV Cameras

True or false? A CCTVcamera with a good zoom lens will deliver the same level of detail you get from a megapixel camera.

FALSE! There is no delicate way to state it: this statement is absolutely, unequivocally false, false, false, false, false!

The area you can cover with reasonable detail (enough to recognize a face or license plate)does not depend on the lens, it depends on the number of pixels covering the scene. The best CCTVcameras have, at most, 704 x 480 pixels. As a general rule, 30 pixels/foot lets you recognize a face or read a license plate. So, the best CCTVcamera can cover an area 23 feet wide (704/30) and 16 feet high (640/30), for a total of 368 ft2. Knowing that, you would need to select a lens that gives you, at most, a 23' wide field of view to get enough detail. Putting a wider lens on the camera will simply blur the image and putting a telephoto lens on the camera will get you a sharper picture but a much smaller coverage area.

Alternatively, a 1280 x 1024 megapixel camera lets you cover a 43' x 34' area or 1462 ft2(4x the coverage of the CCTVcamera). A3.1 megapixel camera, at 2048 x 1536, can cover 3450 ft2, or almost 10x the coverage of the CCTVcamera. The lens simply determines how far away you want that level of detail. Awide angle lens can get the detail very close to the camera and a telephoto lens can get the detail at a great distance from the camera, but neither gets you megapixel quality and area of coverage.

1.3 Megapixel IQeye Network Camera

What's the Right Technology for You?
So, how do you choose the right components to make sure you never miss a thing?

First, determine how wide an area you want to cover. For instance, if you want to cover a 10,000 ft2parking lot with license plate and/or facial detail, your choices are: 28 CCTVcameras, seven 1.3 megapixel cameras, or three 3.1 megapixel cameras.

Next, determine the camera to object distance. This is critical for the selecting the right lens. Remember the lens does not increase the resolution of the camera, it simply defines where you are focusing. Once you select the right focal length of the lens make sure the lens matches the camera quality. Alens does not increase the resolution of a camera but the wrong lens can absolutely hurt the resolution of the camera so while a plastic lens may suffice for a CCTVcamera, a megapixel camera needs a megapixel quality lens.

Finally, make sure to record at the image quality you want. Be careful of those who may show you a high resolution image to close the deal, but actually record images at a lower resolution to save on the amount of storage they have to provide. A simple way to avoid this is to have the integrator submit actual reference images as part of the proposal. Avoid the technical mumbo-jumbo about compression algorithms and techniques - get them to show you the image quality! Have them set up a system, walk across the parking lot and have them capture an actual image of you based on what they are proposing, and make that image part of their Proposal. This will ensure you get what you pay for.

We've covered three very prevalent misrepresentations about megapixel technology that have clouded decision-making and prevented end-users from understanding megapixel's potential and cost-effectiveness. The best way to judge for yourself is to see it for yourself, compare a megapixel camera to the others, and then you will see the real picture.

as a salesman .. the main target was to get everybody happy .. satisfying everyone needs is part of the jobs .. the bosses wants to see a good figures .. the clients wants to see a good products .. the colleagues wants a fair treatment .. everybody wants what they thought they deserve from a salesman like me .. but nobody is prefect .. not even me .. in all my practice as a professional salesman .. not everybody is happy with the service i have provided... but honestly .. i have work very hard towards fulfilling their demands.. and yet failure is part of the obstacle along the trail to success.
from Monday to Saturday, i woke up at 6.30 and complete my morning routine before heading to office around 7.15 am. start from the office there will be no more routine .. everyday is a new day with a new task .. planning, appointments, site, meetings, complaints, clients .. all are the words that could explained the activities i could have in one day .. sometimes the jobs will be drag to night.. entertaining clients .. with foods, drinks .. comes with the job description. Life as a salesman, no doubt tiring and full of pressures, is not for everybody but ones you got the hang of it .. you will never change your career as a sales person to other job .. i will put my bets on this ..

.. I was away before Hari Raya to Mukah. It was my second time. We were driving from Kuching on a Toyota Hilux. The trip from kuching to Sibu was good. From Sibu to Mukah it was a terrible journey . For those who has been there this few months should understand what am I talking about. The road to Mukah town was so bad that it took my colleague,which was driving in a Nissan vanette, 3 hours for less than 50 KM ride. It was a rodeo ride ...

.. We were there to install 15 units of IP camera in Polytechnic Mukah. I was there for only one nights but my colleagues have to stay four nights to complete the jobs. And they vow not to comeback.. not by land at least!

.. The IP camera which was cost more than RM 1000.00 each was installed at various building and monitored by one station. The site was huge (>< 500 acres) and the IP camera is the most pratical solutions to use on the site. This is to reduce the cabling and wiring cost and also to reduce the maintenance expenses in the future.

IP cameras are Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras that use Internet Protocol to transmit image data and control signals over a Fast Ethernet link. As such, IP cameras are also commonly referred to as network cameras. IP cameras are primarily used for surveillance in the same manner as analog closed-circuit television. A number of IP cameras are normally deployed together with a digital video recorder (DVR) or a network video recorder (NVR) to form a video surveillance system.The terms IP camera and network camera are most commonly used to refer to surveillance cameras with a Fast Ethernet interface. The introduction of Network Cameras incorporating onboard processors and web server software. These Network Cameras can be connected directly to existing IP networks, eliminating the need for separate and expensive coaxial cable networks. Images can be viewed and cameras managed from anywhere via a web browser, plus any hard disk on the network can be set up to record the video output. The Ip cameras usually comes with a NVR(Network Video Recorder) Software which allows user to view few cameras silmutenoesly at one time. The NVR comes with 16 channel or 32 channel. Which can be install at users personal computer. In the market now, we can see a lot of IP camera with differents features. To select a good IP camera.The first aspect of choosing your surveillance software will be the features that the software offers. Every installation of security cameras is different so your selection of software will be different as well. Most of IP Camera companies offer a demo to their prospect. You should ask for that also to ensure that the IP camera meet your need. Remember that the IP camera comes in many shape and forms with different feature for a different enviroment.

I usually go to governments or corporates office to making a sales calls or dropping by to check is there is an opportunity to making any business going on. And I use to deal with a work clerk or a person that assigned to me by their boss. It was ok for me to talk to me but the they could not make any decision without their superior consent.

It is very important to hook up with a decision-maker to get a fast result. I use to ask them who is actually the decision-maker in the company. After a session of briefing, quoting, and proposing I will ask what for their opinion. Most of the time they will responds "I don't know," in which i will reply something like this:" well, that's actually important.who would we talk to about that?".

From there I will move up the ladder to my contact. It is important to verify that the person you are talking to really is the decision-maker. I usually ask question a "how" and "why" when ever I in doubt.

Don't get mislead by tittles or organizational chart. Use effective questioning to get your contact to identify the person who has the actual power to make things happen for you. Then try to set a meeting with your contact and that person.

This is a picture taken at Damai Beach, shortly after I have a meeting with the management on the instalation of CCTV at their premises. It wasn't a big money but still I feel proud to be part of the most establish resort here in Kuching.

Retreat, Lundu. Install CCTV.. Spend few nights there. wonderful place.

Boulevard shopping complex.. currently, the biggest project i am hadling. surveillance systems with more than 200 units of cctvs.

I still have a long list for corporate , goverment and private clients but this are few which are well known. I am very proud to be part of them. Hope for the best in the future. Aiming for more bigger projects to come.

i went to KL few days ago. Air Asia departed from Kuching at 12.50 and landing at LCCT. Two of us went for a seminar on IP camera by Geovision, Gamma Solution. Me and my colleague plan to go to Tnajung Malim for business of course but we have to maka a stop at Petaling Jaya. A & A office. From there we drive to Tnajung Malim. Settle the business. Stop at Dusun Bay for dinner than continue our journey. Stop at Sungai Besi and at the end reach the appartment at Cheras around 1.30 am.

Next morning went to Hotel Impiana KLCC . End at 5.00 pm. Have a rest at the appartment before meet a police officer at Kepung. Than drive all the way to Port Klang for another appoinment. Sleep at 3.00 am.

Wake up and meeting at RHB Bank at Kepung. Back to branch office at USJ. Went for the last appoinment at Pandan Indah. Back at Kuching at 8.30 PM flying from KL at 6.50 pm. Did not have time even to set food at shopping complexes. What a waste.

A short and full pack journey. Tiring but all the job is done, at least for KL. Back at Kuching still have to attend site meeting. Quotations need to submit. Invoices have to settle. A busy week for me.

I was in a meeting when I received a call from my brother and he was telling me that my mom has been hit by a car while crossing the highway to her house and she has been brought by the ambulance to the emergency room.

The news caught me by surprise. My mind became blank, my whole body shivered, my knee weaken, I just want to sit down but seems that also wasn’t the right thing to do. I try to continue the meeting but my mom face keep flashing in front of me. How is she? Is she badly hurt? Why I let her alone in the house? So many question comes to my head and I could think of hundreds reason that this thing not supposed to happened.

Upon reaching the hospital, I met my brothers and sisters, sadden face waiting for the doctor’s news. I have been told that my mom has a very thin chance of surviving the accident but I still hope that everything would be fine. Minutes change to hours, we waited and waited and at 7.00 pm on 3rd of July, the doctor called us in. My mom had her ribs broken and the bleeding was very bad. There is a serious fractured on her head too. Than the news break, the doctors have tried their very best but they could not save her due to the serious injuries she had.

I have lost a great woman in my life. She was a loving and a caring mother and grandmother. She is going to be 66 years old on 10th of June but God took her away .I would like to share with all my readers how great she was and how my life connects to hers but I prefer not to. Let her memories remain with me forever. This one is a tribute to the woman I admired and love so much.

... O God, who hast commanded us to honor our father and our mother; in Thy mercy have pity on the soul of my mother, and forgive her her trespasses; and make me to see her again in the joy of everlasting brightness. Amen.

Have you ever received a phone call that you don’t even know who the caller is? It happened to me a lot. As a salesperson, my telephone number has been pass along to a lot of people, either from myself, my officemate, my associates or whoever that knows my number. This has make me received a lot of anonymous calls. I don’t mind actually, after all, every phone call means every chance to make a little bit more fortune. This is a why I always return every called that I missed as soon as I am available. There must be a reason for someone to call you, why would they spend their cents on something they do not want.

To start a conversation through a phone I always introduce my self and ask whether the other end of the line is the person I want to talk to. I would say, “Good morning Mr. John, Bob here”. Don’t you agree, this is better than, “Good morning, Mr. John, I would drop by to your office this afternoon”. What would John felt if he doesn’t recognized you?

Focus when you make a call or answer a call. Don’t you feel irritated when you were talking to a person through the phone on other end; the other person was talking to somebody else. Have you ever experience that? Sometimes I would ask the person whether he or she is listening to what I am saying. For me, it is rude , not only when you are on the phone but even when you are face to face with the person , you should stop what ever you were doing and focus your attention to the person you are having conversation with.

I guess most of us are using a hand phone. I am pretty sure that this hand phone would display a caller identity when ever a call was received. How would you greet your caller? If I recognized the caller, I would greet him together with his name, example, “Morning Mr. John” or” Mike, what’s up “, the latter use for informal called. It doesn’t have to be long but at least the person that called knows he get the right person. If it an anonymous calls, I would say, “Good morning, Bob speaking”.

The best way to keep your tone positive and upbeat is to smile when you are talking on the phone. Even though the person on the other end of the line can't see the smile on your face, they'll "hear" it in the tone of your voice. Whether you are cheer or sad, people will notice it through the sound of your voice. Show your confidence, show the person that you are happy to received a call from them. Smile!

Just remember that you are talking to another person who has feeling and emotion just like you. A telephone is just another gadget that connects two individual but the other end there is human being that want to be serve equally as you want to be served.

Avoid bad phone habits:-

• Allowing you to become emotional during the conversation.

• Becoming distracted by noises around you.
• Interrupting with questions before the speaker has finished.
• Making faces at the telephone while speaking.
• Participating in other activities, such as typing or filing, while on the telephone.
• Tuning out because you think you know what the speaker is going to say.

Yesterday, my client has arrived from Kuala Lumpur to do site inspection. Yesterday was a busy day for myself as I have to attend few meetings. That night, I brought them out for dinner. We have seafoods at my vilage baruk located at Petra Jaya. We had our dinner at 10.00 pm. It was late but the wait was worth it as the food was good and we had a lot of fun. The bill came and it only cost me RM 191.00 , very cheap considered they were 8 person on the dinner table with a lot of food.

After the dinner, thought of bringing them to see the night life of Kuching City but they were very tired. Upon their request I sent them back to the hotel. When I reached my home, it was pass midnight.

Next morning, I pick them up and bring them to site which is the RTM at Jln P.Ramlee and Jabatan Penerangan at Jalan Bako. That nite again, I go and entertained them once more. And again, I reached home, everybody was asleep. The business goes well.

As a salesman, the job was not that easy as most people think. You have to be flexible with your time. Try make your family understand what is the job requirements. Sometimes, when we are too busy entertain the client, we are tend to forget about them (our family). This is one small sacrifice you have to make, just remember that at the end of the end day we are back to their side.

We always make an excuse of not being with our love ones. The most common, "I have too work and I work to earn more money for you guys". Sound familiar? But sometime, all they need is you to be there with them.

My family at Taman Budaya, spending time with them on Saturday afternoon, the best moment I could have.

A man with a winking problem is applying for a position as a sales representative for a large firm. The interviewer looks over his papers and says, "This is phenomenal. You've graduated from the best schools; your recommendations are wonderful, and your experience is unparalleled. Normally, we'd hire you without a second thought. However, a sales representative has a highly visible position, and we're afraid that your constant winking will scare off potential customers. I'm sorry....we can't hire you."

I have an appointment with a prospect who intended to purchase an alarm systems. We have set the appointment earlier and upon arriving , he was waiting for me at the front gate of his house. I have known earlier that the person was introduced to me by a friend and I am really confident to have the paper work to be sign .

I started the conversation by asking him what makes him thought of putting an alarm systems and as I have thought, the answer would be for security reason. After I find out his budget and I work on my quotation , we manage to sign a deal that worth RM 2000++ .

I asked him once again what had made him decide to put a security alarm at his house . He answered me by telling me an event that happened during the holiday on previous week. There was a group of three person who have stop in front of their house and tried to rob his wife while his wife was reversing the car out of his compound .Luckily enough, he was there to stop them . Nothing bad had really happened as he manage to scares the three intruders away .

From there , I notice he needs more than just an alarm systems so I began to introduce my other products such as the surveillance systems and also the automatic gate systems. At the end of the day , instead of the RM 2000++ I am going home with a sales worth RM 7000++. It is a great acoompishment for a single appointment.

Often we go to a shop or a store with a simple aim of what we want to purchase but often to we walk out the shop or the store with other thing among what we have aim earlier. As we entered the shop or the store we notice that we might need more things than just what we intended to buy earlier . We could walk into a hard ware store intended to buy a bulb but at the end we might bought a screwdriver, a power drill, a pulg and other hardware accessories as all this things are making sense to be purchased .

Ask a prospect " I'm just curious , what made you decide to get in touch with us?" a powerful strategy for salespeople . Find out and tell them what other things that you have that the prospect might need.

The holiday just ended. It was Gawai Festival and I was on a long holiday. I have traveled back to kampong and visited my relative that I have not met for a while.
It was fun for me; I have met most of my relatives and my wife relatives. I also met new people along the way.

We talk and share about ourselves and I took this opportunity to tell them what I am doing for a living. At the end of the long term I have got my self few contacts list and beginning to arrange an appointment. I even had my self a sale closed at a value of RM 4400.00 during my holiday.

Prospecting for me is the most important steps in sales success .If you don’t have a prospect, no matter how good is your closing skills, your product knowledge, your presentation, your skill in knowing what everyone needs or want , your will be out of business . If you don’t have a prospect, you have no one to sell to.

A prospect is an individual or a group capable of making the decision on the product or service that the salesman is selling. A prospect has a need of the product, a possible desire to own the products and the financial capacity to implement the decision.

Prospecting can be done anywhere anytime as long as there are people present. Just as what I did during the gawai holiday. Prospecting is not a chore; it is truly an exciting opportunity for success!

Making contacts and calls in the world of sales is critical. The successful prospecting attitude means the salesman must constantly aware the changes around him and turning a conversation that would directly or indirectly involved the products or services the salesperson is offer.

The best way to begin prospecting is to display a genuine interest in the other person. When you the right kind of person, your chances of becoming an effective salesperson is much better.

Often the individual with whom you are talking is not a prospect, but because of your sincerity and your genuine interest in people, the individual will not only refer you to a prospect but even call on your behalf because you are such a nice person.

You are thinking about prospecting all the time, and when you do, it is amazing how potential buyers will pop up in the most unlikely places. Keep on prospecting with sincerity.

Sales Tips: My Mind Was In the Gutter, and He Got the Sale

Needed my home gutters cleaned, so I went to the classified section of the paper and called four of the advertisers and told each that

"I needed my gutters cleaned."

I did NOT say I was shopping, or looking for the lowest price.

Each gave me their price, then was silent.

The first one who asked for the business was going to get it.

Which happened to be the last one.

"It will be $65. I can be there tomorrow, OK?"

OK.

If you handle calls where inquirers call for information such as availability and price quotes, make it a point to always ask for the sale before you hang up. They're going to buy from someone (Why would they call otherwise?) It should be from you.

Too often I'll hear reps handle calls, burn trails through the company looking for specific information, and then provide it to the caller. The rep waits passively, then they hear,
"Oh, OK, well, I'll get back to you. It looks pretty good."

Instead, make it a habit to say,

"Yes, we have that in stock. It's only $496. How many should I ship you."

Or, if the request requires work on your part and you'll need to get back to the caller, ensure you're not working for free.

"I'll be happy to check this for you. Tell me about your project. How does this fit in?"

Get them talking about their situation. After learning more, should you even decide the work will be worth the effort, ask them,
"Great, after I find this for you, assuming it's satisfactory, how many will you be getting from us?"

Then you can ask, "So, what would be satisfactory?"

It's tough enough to find opportunities. Be sure you are taking advantage of the ones that show up at your door with money to spend. Help them get what they want-- from you.

I have gone travelling last week . Me and a technician together with our main contractor from KL. We travelled by car from Kuching all the way up to Miri. It take us 4 days and 3 nights to complete our mission. The mission is to handover Pos Malaysia Project at Kenyalan Park, Sibu, Julau and Miri.
It was fun and enjoy journey but tiring. We started the journey from Kenyalang Park after the handover to owner around 12.30 pm reaching Sibu town around 9.30 pm. Complete the job in Sibu the next morning and continue to next sitem Julau which located 1 hour from Sibu. We drove from Julau to Miri around 1 pm. Reach Niah about 9.30 where we have our dinner then continue to Miri. Reaching there midnight.
The next morning, we complete the Miri Pos Office job and stayed in Miri for one more night before drove back to Kuching the next morning. Complete the trip around 10 pm in Kuching.
In my line of duty, travelling is common. I have to do what I need to do. Sometimes I drive 100 km ++ just to meet a client. If I was lucky, I could close the sales immediately but if not, than I have to follow up few times before I could close the sale, that if I could got the bussiness. This is where the technoly come in handy, handphone, internet is a very usefull tool .It could save lo of my travelling time and cost is cheaper than buying petrol. It works wonderful if use properly.

Dress for success

Lucky enough, my company give us uniform for us to wear to the office. This has saved us money and time to look for shirts. With blue long sleeve shirt and dark pants, that is what we were wearing through out the weeks. Every morning I will pick the shirt and wear it. I don’t have to look into the closet looking for something to wear and decide how I am going to look that day. It is simple.

As a salesperson, I have to look smart. Not just smart, I have to be presentable and look professional. I have to let my client knows that I in my best suit because something special is happening. I have showed up to meet them and they should trust doing business with me. What will you think if I showed up wearing a jeans and a turtle neck? Which one will you choose?

When wearing smart, I do feel more confidence. It does increase my negotiation leverage. By wearing casually I may bring the wrong message to my boss. What would my boss think if he sees my wearing casual to an appointment? Perhaps the boss hired me because the great job I did but that is not an excused for me to wear what ever I want.
By dressing casually I might reduce my option for the rest of the day. When you limit your opportunities, you will limit your earning power.

Sometimes, life is not what you want it to be. After you have done your planning for a week, in between there will be obstacles, sometimes you are force to change your plan due to certain circumstances which cannot be avoid. Some other times, the plan seem perfect and well executed and that is the best thing that could happened to a salesman.

Last week all my plans are seems running smoothly. I have close a total sales that more than my weekly target. I have done all the paper work that i supposed to finish.
I have enjoyed my life as i should have. Everything was great. Life is wonderful.

But yesterday, the first day of this week, everything is not what I expect it to be. I have lost a client that I have confident to close the sales with. My car having problems. There are tiny matters that could not be resolved. Worst scenario! I tried to do things as I plan but seems it doesn't work. I have to cancelled my appointment that was scheduled. I have to delayed things that could be done yesterday.

Planning is a basic instrument in sales but sometimes it doesn't goes well. Time management is what it is all about. Today, as I was typing this, I am doing some planning as well . I have to manage my time in order to fix my planned in. I need to put an extra effort to see my plan goes well and pray that HE will guide me throuh it. Got a job to do!!!

The Planned Presentation: The Only One Worth Giving

A planned presentation is not only a building block for a great performance, it is central to the entire sales process. And yet, no principle I’ve taught over the years has been met with more resistance. However, there is no principle I believe in any more strongly than this.

I can just hear the groans now. “But Tom…”

• “I don’t want to sound canned.”
• “I want to be flexible.”
• “Every situation is different.”
• “I talk to different levels of decision makers, so I need different presentations.”

I say: “OK, fine. Making these excuses is a lot easier than doing the work of a professional, which is planning your sales presentation.”

Yes, There is a Best Presentation

I believe in a planned presentation and here is why. First, the best tool you have is your words. What comes out of your mouth determines your success or failure. If this weren’t true, everyone could just send out brochures and fancy PowerPoint presentations and make six figures a year. If you believe you have value as a salesperson, then it is in the words you say when you talk to prospects. That must be a given!

There are some things you say that communicate our message better than others and lead to the results you want. Let’s call these words, “the best sales presentation possible.”

The best sales presentation possible is not vastly different each time. There are certain benefits and features of every product that must be communicated, and those benefits and features must be communicated in the best way possible. Best, by definition, means one, exclusive, alone; the best way is better than any other way by its very definition. There are not five best ways; there can be only one best way.

Your goal is to give the best presentation you can to each and every prospect. How do you get there? You have a choice based on your experience – shoot from the hip, go with the flow, or plan your presentation. It’s your choice, but the only way to give the ever-elusive “best” presentation and to give it every time is to plan it.

Here are some thoughts about why it pays to plan your presentation:

I. Have Planned Responses

If your presentation is planned, you’ll have time to think about your prospects’ verbal and non-verbal reactions and comments. If you have to think of what you’re going to say next, you simply can’t do that.

II. Gain Heightened Efficiency

Efficiency is the second advantage of planning your presentation. No non-relevant material can creep into your presentation to distract you or your prospect. You don’t repeat yourself. You cover all the salient points in the most efficient manner possible.

III. Guarantee Thoroughness

Third, you guarantee that you are more thorough. Perhaps that is really just a part of efficiency, but it helps to think of it separately. You never leave anything out, and you never present important points in the wrong place in your presentation if you’ve planned and practiced.

Unplanned presentations can go on forever, leave important points out, and in general be wastes of qualified prospects’ time. You can also miss important buying signs, interest signs, and signs of concern because you have to worry about what you are going to say next rather than pay attention to the nonverbal communication that is taking place. If you are only listening to yourself, you can’t listen to the prospect!

IV. Practice to Make Perfect

Another reason for giving a planned presentation is to better gauge your results. No professional athlete experiments with his shot, stroke, or swing. Can you imagine Pete Sampras saying to himself at Wimbledon: “You know, I think I’ll try a couple of different serve motions today.”

Or Kobe Bryant saying: “I’m going to shoot my jump shot differently every time this game.”

Albert Pujols, baseball great with the St. Louis Cardinals, prides himself on taking the same swing every time. All the pros tweak and constantly strive to improve, but their basic motions stay the same. It’s when they stray from that basic motion that they have slumps or bad games.

The same is true in sales. Great salespeople can have bad days, bad weeks, or longer slumps when they stray from their basic planned presentation.

Building Rapport with Handshake

The handshake is a mighty communication tool. It's often
part of that all-important, made only once, first impression.

Introductions can produce some anxiety when we aren't sure
what to do. Rules are more lax than they used to be, but
following these guidelines helps to avoid anxiety and creates an atmosphere for building rapport.

A handshake is appropriate when you're being introduced, when you say goodbye, when you greet someone and when you
welcome someone to your home, office, place of business or
wherever you gather with business associates or clients. A warm greeting accompanied by a handshake can set the stage
for a friendly, welcoming atmosphere necessary for establishing effective communication and achieving satisfying results.

Here are a few up-to-date suggestions.

The grip
A firm but gentle grip suggests confidence. A limp grip or
one with just the fingers extended suggests timidity. A
bone-cruncher is too forceful and overly eager. A handshake
should be palm to palm, web to web. Smile and make eye
contact. Gently pump your hand once or twice and let go.

Non-gender
It's no longer expected that a man waits for a woman to put
out her hand first or that the grip be different man-to-man,
man-to-woman or woman-to-woman. A handshake is appropriate no matter what the gender.

Two hands? Maybe.
Using two hands when riding a bicycle is a good idea. Using
the two-handed grip may also be a good idea when you
honestly want to communicate sincerity and warmth. However,
it may also communicate insincerity, two much intimacy and an attempt at intimidation. Use it sparingly and appropriately.

Be cool.
If you extend your hand to someone and that person doesn't
extend back, just withdraw your hand and go on with your
greeting. Unless you've done something really awful, the
other person is behaving badly.

Who says what to whom?
These are general rules: Younger is introduced to older,
associate to client, peer to employer, lesser rank to higher rank. That latter one sounds a little stuffy, but in business there's no sense in being thought of as bad mannered by those in charge. Here's a typical greeting. "Mrs. Jefferson (older, employer, or client), this is Carol Black, my co-worker."

Stand, except when….
Always stand for introductions no matter your gender unless
you're wedged in behind a table and can't get up. Just briefly rise, which is the best you can do at the moment, and extend your hand.

Forgetting a name.
There are times when the situation calls for our best judgement, but what's most important is that the greeting and the introduction takes place at all. If possible, make sure you have all the names beforehand. If not, it's better to ask than to ignore.

A friendly handshake, a warm smile and eye contact may be
your first experience with someone whose attitudes and
decisions can make a difference to your business or profession. Establishing trust and rapport from the beginning is the first step toward a mutually beneficial outcome.

I follow my colleague to meet a prospect few days ago, as a senior executive, it is part of my responsibilities that was handed to me by management to guide or help my junior colleague as best as I could.
Upon reaching the prospect office, we were invited to meet him immediately. Sitting next to my colleague, while she is presenting our products to the prospect, I listened and observe her. Whenever I thought it was necessary, I will interrupt her and says a few words to the prospect. My junior had done a wonderful job with the presentation.
The prospect asked a few question to her, she answered it brilliantly. When ever she does not know the answer she will look at me as giving me the signal to join in the conversation. As we leave, the prospect says,” I will look through the proposal and I will get back to you.”
“Okay. Thank You”, was the remark from my junior colleague.
Well, as my experience taught me that “I will get back to you” brings a lots of meaning and the worse scenario is that you will waiting for a phone call or a feedback from him but he never get back to you. If you are lucky, then you may get the answer within few days. Most of the time, it was the opposite way.
The best way is to make the prospect committed with it, instead of waiting; we could just arrange an appointment immediately to move to the next level in marketing. We could give him a specific date and time for us to follow up with him. I believe this way; it will show him my commitment and eagerness to do business with him or his company. Furthermore, it will secure me an appointment for the next level.
“Tom (the prospect), what if we call you back in a couple of days? Is Friday afternoon okay?” words came out of my mouth.
“Friday morning is good”, answered Tom. By now, I and my colleague knew that we will go to talk to Tom again and from there we will bring it the next level or maybe close the sales.
Don’t miss the opportunity to bring the prospect to the next steps in the ideal selling process which is: 1. Opening (qualifying)
2. Information Gathering (interviewing)
3. Presentation (sharing the plan based on
the information gathering)
4. Closing.

Selling. Cold calls, introductions, interviews, appointments, proposals, referrals, call cycles, building rapport, listening, asking for the order, overcoming objections, closing the sale, and rejection.

There's a lot to know about the business of selling. No wonder many people are a bit overwhelmed when they are asked to do it.

And it's not a job for the faint-hearted.

Selling is a communication-rich activity, with lots of verbal and non-verbal clues to simultaneously recognise, understand and respond to. It's a tough job looking after the interests of the customer and the company at the same time. Especially when you have to do this many times a day, every day.

The sales process does not usually proceed in a linear, one-way direction. The participants will often meander along paths filled with associated ideas, go back to items already discussed, find answers for problems (overcome objections) and explore the features and benefits offered.

An effective selling style will display a relevant and appropriate personal manner combined with a strong focus on the required outcome.

On many occasions handling a sale is much like steering a boat across a strong current. There is a need to constantly assess the amount of 'drift', making minor adjustments to stay on course for the destination.

A skillful sales person can handle these diversions and carefully guide the prospect to recognise why they should make the decision to purchase 'this' product from 'this company'.

For those working outside the field of professional selling, it's common for the sales process, and sales people, to be misunderstood.

Indeed, there are those who think of sales staff as being universally pushy, overbearing, and making the customer feel ill at ease.

However this type of behavior is usually the result of inexperience or poor sales training. Over recent years the art of selling has been transformed into a process now often referred to as 'consultative selling'.

More than just a buzzword, consultative selling refers to the process of developing a clear understanding of your customers needs and following this with a logical presentation of how your product or service can help your customer be satisfied. In effect consulting with your client to determine their needs and develop a solution.

Modern, effective sales people have mastered the skill of identifying the needs of individual prospects, matching those needs with benefits offered by their product or service, and closing the sale by ensuring the customer can see real value in the deal being offered. It's a win-win result.

Throughout the process an experienced sales person will generate a level of trust with the customer that can stand the test of time.

Selling is an art - the art of guiding the sales process to a mutually satisfying conclusion.

... Last night I was invited by a friend to go out. I follow him without asking much question as I knew him quite sometime already. He asked me to meet him at one place not far from my office.We agree to meet at 7.30 pm.

When I reached at the mention places, I saw a lot of people standing at the five foot way. Most of them look smart, wearing slacks and long sleeve shirt. few of them even wearing a sut. Me, still in my uniform looks a bit sloopy and tired. I do, I do feel a bit tired after a long day at work. Before i Got out of my car, I give my friend a call and he instruct me to go to the crowded.

I got out of my car and walk towards the crowd and my friend was standing among the crowd with a big smile on his face. He grab my hand and started to introduce me to few friends of his. Then he invited me to go inside a room. There were few table and chairs. We walk to unoccupied table and take our seats.

Then a another person came in, wearing a coat and look smart, sitting at the same table. He take out his laptop, open it up and show it to me. Now, I got the idea. It is all about Multi Level Marketing (MLM) . It was a good presentation and it makes me wonder about the money it could generate in such a short period. For a moment I was somewhere else, I imagining that much money I will earn in a short period of time .. the things i would do, the things I would buy ... the places I would go .. It was there, playing in my mind.. For that moment I wish it wasn't just a dream.

But to be honest, now after 24hours gone since I left the place, I wasn't that sure anymore about the bussiness. The only thing that give me the second thought was when they say to me, " we are doing bussiness but we are not selling anything".

As a salesman, I believe in selling the products.. helping the others to achieve what they need and what they want. To meet beyond one expectation on product or even my service is pure joy for me. If I do not have to sell anything to earn that money than I would consider my self an investor not a salesman.

Anyway, there a few selling tips that was shared that night and inspiring quotes that was use in the presentation was good. I could not really remember the exact words but it was good. It is not a waste of my time since I get to know more people and learn few tricks about selling.

If you have an oppotunity to socialize, you should grab it. You will never know who you meet or what other opportunity lies ahead.

I train Sales Reps for a large UK employer with a great reputation. We took a guy on three months ago who had some sales experience in a completely different market. On my first Field Training Day with him, we met up early morning in a Cafe. I bought him a coffee, and he handed me a Mars bar from his suit jacket. I thought it a bit odd. Anyhow, on our first call, he gave the receptionist a Mars Bar, and also the Service Manager he was seeing. This continued throughout the day. He had two cases of chocolate in his car boot (trunk?) that he bought himself! I didn't really pay a great deal of attention, but looked at his sales figures at the end of the following month and they were fantastic. He was no more eloquent or organized than anyone else, but had found a niche. Something to be remembered by! He is not known as the guy from AutoWindscreens but that guy who brings Mars Bars!

It is weekend and it will be a long weekend because Monday is a Holliday. I have made a plan with my family to go for a picnic on the holliday but this morning I have received a phone call from one of my prospect ask me to sit for a meeting with him on Monday. Since this person is a very busy man and I was lucky enough to have the oppotunity to spent some time with him, I agreed to preceed with the meeting.

Now, what should I tell my children? They have been patiently wait since the last few days for this weekend to come. It will break my heart if I see the look on their faces if I were to tell that the plan has to be cancelled. This is not the first time! As a salesman, I would grab any opportunity to make sales. In the process i have notice that my time spent with my preciuos ones are less. Sadly enough, I continue with the rutin.

I have read or heard another salesman says, " Let the family understand your situation, work and make more money, Later if you have all the financial more than you need, bring them around share with them what you earned... "

I think the statement was not that correct. What happened if I never reach there or something might happen that could result in me could not accompany my family anymore? Or If the children would have to wait very long, they might treat me as a stranger? And my spouse would never know me anymore?

I have come to my conclusion. My family is my priority. I will keep my word to my children. I will make my spouse happy. I love them. Money can wait and it is everywhere. My family is only my family.

Now the only thing left for me is to call back my prospect and tell him that I have to postpone the meeting. I hope he will understand. Keep my finger cross ....

Great Salespeople Listen More Than They Talk

Odds are that you offer a far broader range of capabilities than any one client needs, whether it's product features, multiple products or the related services you can provide. A common mistake many people make is to focus their sales meetings on all the things they have to offer, hoping that something will stick. But what happens is that prospective customers get overwhelmed by too much information, end up tuning out and miss the match between your offering and their needs. Or worse, what they hear from you first isn't relevant to them, they base their impression of you on that first impression, and they never give you the opportunity to correct it.

Great salespeople listen more than they talk. How can you possibly offer a solution to your customer's problem, or a tool to help them do what they do even better, unless you understand their situation? Ask open-ended questions that elicit more than a one-word response (watch for more on questions in a future edition). Remember, every customer has their own unique set of issues surrounding their buying decision. You can't really sell anybody anything - you can only help them buy. And in order to do that, you have to listen first.

Surveillance Systems in Workplaces

In my line of work, I have met a lot of managers, business owners, employers and also employees. Most of employers I have met request to install surveillance systems (CCTV) at the workplace because to prevent theft, promoting productivity or protecting employees, But whether they are aware or not by installing CCTV at the workplace they might intrude the employees privacy. Some of them might request a hidden camera to be installed. The reason is they do not want they employees to know that they are been watching.

There are the four main types of court-upheld privacy violations that could occur in stores, factories and offices and the first type is directly related to video surveillance.
1. Intrusion upon seclusion which includes invading worker privacy in bathrooms and changing rooms
2. Publication of private employee matters
3. Disclosure of medical records
4. Appropriation of an employee’s likeness for commercial purposes

Employers, when they install CCTV systems at the workplace they should let the employees to know that their behavior or their actions while performing their work are been watch. Employees also should know their rights when their privacies are violated.

If employers choose to use video surveillance in the workplace, they must adhere to written privacy guidelines that will keep employees secure and that will also respect their privacy

Salesmen are a big problem to their bosses, customers and wives, to credit managers, hotels, and sometimes to each other. Individually and collectively they are cussed and discussed in sales meetings, conventions, behind closed doors, in bathrooms, bar rooms, and under one’s breath from many angles, and with much fervor.

They make more noise and more mistakes, create more cheers, correct more errors, adjust more differences, spread more gossip, explain more discrepancies, hear more grievances, pacify more belligerence, and waste more time under pressure, all without losing their temper, than any class we know-including ministers. They live in hotels, cabs and tents, on trains, buses, and park benches, eat all kind of food, drink all kinds of liquids-good and bad-sleep before, during, and after business with no more schedule than the weather bureau, and with no sympathy from the office.

Yet salesmen are a power in society and in the public economy. In many ways they are a tribute unto themselves. They draw and spend more money with less effort and with less return than any other group in business. They come at the most inopportune time, under the slightest pretext, stay longer under more opposition, ask more personal question, make more comments, put up more inconveniences, and take more for granted under greater resistance than any group or body, including the US Army. They introduce more new goods, dispose of more old goods, load or move more freight cars, unload more ships, build more factories, start more new businesses, and write more debits and credits I our ledgers than all the other people in America. With all their faults, they keep the wheels of commerce turning, and the currents of human emotions running. More cannot be said of any man. Be careful whom you call a salesman, lest you flatter him.

Never, EVER, Start a Call With "I Just Called to See How Things are Going"

This is a sad story. Sad but true. It was a real conversation, ostensibly a sales conversation. This sales conversation, and many others just like it, are happening all over the world. I recount this sad sales conversation here in hope that we may all learn from it:

Sales Representative: "I just called to see how things are going."

Wendy: "Things are going fine. Why are you calling?"

Sales Representative: "I just called to see how things are."

Wendy: "Things are fine."

Sales Representative: "OK. Well I'm here if you need me."

Wendy: "Why should I need you?"

As it turns out, the company this young man represented was supposed to be scheduling a demo of a product for my staff and for me. My wonderful assistant, Erin, usually takes care of scheduling for these types of events. When the rep called, I was working on a program that had an approaching deadline. This company's demo was the last thing on my mind. I didn't make the connection and I had absolutely no idea why this rep was calling me. Clearly, neither did he.

"I just called to see how things are going" has to be the lamest follow-up question of all time." Although, it is running neck and neck with, "I just called to follow-up." Neither question elicits any information, neither moves the sales process forward and both are frequently annoying to your prospect who has absolutely no idea why you have called.

Now in all fairness, this rep was not the original contact and perhaps the original contact did not give him all of the background. In that case, he should have first asked the original contact some questions:

-"What is the purpose/goal of my call?"

-"What is the history here?"

-"Where are we with this prospect?"

-"What is the next step for this prospect?"

Any of these would have sufficed. Then this representative would have had a focus and a goal for his call.

The rule is: Never make a call to your prospect without having a goal in mind. When you hang up the telephone, what do you want to have accomplished? Do you want to gather information? Do you want the prospect to commit to some action? Do you want agreement on the next step in your sales process? Once you have your goal in mind you can then figure out the appropriate approach. (Hint: "I just called to see how things are going" is not it.)

Here's an approach that you can use to set up your follow up calls. I call it the "Instant Recap/Guilt Technique." It goes like this:

Instant Recap
"Hello (prospect's name goes here.) This is (your name) from (your company.) We spoke on (date goes here) and discussed (fill in whatever you discussed.)"

Guilt"You asked me to call you (or 'We agreed that I'd call') to discuss (fill in the blank with your next step.)"

The "Instant Recap" brings your prospect back to your last conversation. Your prospect may or may not remember that conversation and when you are prospecting, you don't want to count on your prospect's memory. Help your prospect out by recapping your last conversation.
The "Guilt Technique" then explains why you are calling. There had been a previous conversation, outlined in the "Instant Recap" and now you are doing what you had promised to do, call your prospect.

This "Instant Recap/Guilt Technique" works very nicely to set you up to have your next conversation with a prospect. If you are following up with a prospect who was originally contacted by someone else you can adapt the "Instant Recap/Guilt Technique" as follows:
Instant Recap"Hello (prospect's name goes here.) This is (your name) from (your company.) You spoke with my colleague, (colleague's name goes here) on (date goes here) and discussed (fill in whatever was discussed.)"

Guilt
"You asked us to call you to discuss (fill in the blank with your next step.)"
This is how the unfortunate sales rep reference above should have proceeded. Unfortunately for all, he did not.

Let's have no more sad stories of sales reps calling to "see how things are going." Instead, let's have productive, focused conversations with prospects that move the sales process forward. "I am visualizing you all surrounded by cash."

Intruder Alarm System. In the market there is still a large sum of people that do not really understand about intruder alarm system or how does the systems work. Intruder alarm systems as we call it, is a security systems that will help to minimise the risk of the property be intrude or enter by unwanted people.

I have encounter people with excuses when ever I approach them and try to bring up the security subject. Focus on the customer - One of the most common mistakes that salespeople make is focusing on their product exclusively and neglecting to talk about the customer. It's a common mistake, from both the greenest rookie to the most experienced professional. While the product is important, focusing on the customer is even more important.

Be on time - When you tell someone you'll meet them at a specific time, they are counting on you to be there. They take you at your word. They give you theirs. They may go to extraordinary lengths to be there and if YOU aren't there on time, it shows lack of consideration for their time and you have not kept your word. People will remember this!
Asking questions is one of the most effective sales techniques you can use. By asking questions you begin to uncover the prospect's pains, wants and desires.

Listen! - Too often, people think that to be a super sales person, one must like to talk. Unfortunately, this misconception causes more lost sales than anything else. If you are truly a sales professional, you will learn to LISTEN more than you talk. That's why we have one mouth and 2 ears!

Return on Investment - Most businesses are only interested in saving money or increasing profits. Keep ROI in mind when you're making a proposal or recommendation to a potential customer. Understanding the ROI helps a prospect to justify the expenditure for buying your product or service in most cases.

Develop URGENCY to buy - When a prospect avoids making the decision to buy from you, it's typically because they have no sense of urgency to buy. Your challenge is to prove to the prospect that buying now is best for them and you must be able to offer solid reasons why. What will they miss if they wait even one more day? What are the benefits if they go ahead now? In other words, what's in it for them? Remember...the reason a customer buys your product or service is because of what it can do for them. Tell them!
If the product you're selling is something your prospect can hold in his hands, get it into his hands as quickly as possible. In other words, get the prospect 'into the act'. Let him feel it, weigh it, admire it. Don't stand or sit alongside your prospect. Instead, face him while you're pointing out the important advantages of your product. This will enable you to watch his facial expressions and determine whether and when you should go for the close. In handling sales literature, hold it by the top of the page, at the proper angle, so that your prospect can read it as you're highlighting the important points. Regarding your sales literature, don't release your hold on it, because you want to control the specific parts you want the prospect to read. In other words, you want the prospect to read or see only the parts of the sales material you're telling him about at a given time.
When you get no feedback from your prospect, you must involve him in your presentation. Stop and ask questions such as, "Now, don't you agree that this product can help you or would be of benefit to you?" After you've asked a question such as this, stop talking and wait for the prospect to answer. It's a proven fact that following such a question, the one who talks first will lose, so don't say anything until after the prospect has given you some kind of answer. Wait him out! Remember that in selling, time is money! Therefore, you must allocate only so much time to each prospect. The prospect who asks you to call back next week, or wants to ramble on about similar products, prices or previous experiences, is costing you money.
After the introductory call on your prospect, you should be selling products and collecting money. Any call backs should be only for reorders, or to sell him related products from your line. In other words, you can waste an introductory call on a prospect to qualify him, but you're going to be wasting money if you continue calling on him to sell him the first unit of your product.
When faced with a reply such as, "Your product looks pretty good, but I'll have to give it some thought," you should quickly jump in and ask him what it is that he doesn't understand, or what specifically about your product does he feel he needs to give more thought. Let him explain, and that's when you go back into your sales presentation and make everything crystal clear for him to enable him to buy.You must spend as much time as possible calling on new prospects. Therefore, your first call should be a selling call with follow-up calls by mail or telephone (once every month or so in person) to sign him for reorders and other items from your product line.

... Today is Monday, and as usual we will have our weekly sales meeting. Our performance for previous week will be reviewed.

As for myself, the previous week has not been very fruitfull. I did not meet my personal sales target for the week. I have no reason to blame others but myself.

Honestly, for the last couple months, I had doubled my sales target and I feel very exhausted. Happy tho but still exhausted. All the effort, the energy that I have pour are worth it.

As for this week, I have met prospect and even drowned my self in tons of paperwork but seems the lady luck is not on my side yet. My boss always tell me, if you work hard enough, there is no reason for not meeting the sales target. But, I think, hard working does not give you a satisfaction result where as smart working does.

If I go around and meet 10 prospect in a day,with each prospect I spend little time because I need to rush for another appoinments what do you think, as a prospect, about me? will u get my products or service? What if, I have less prospect and spent more time with the prospect. We could have some coffee, talk about other interest, befriended with the prospect, what will be the percentage of the prospect become my client?

As the sales target goes, I still have days to fulfill my company's requirement. Like Malaysian saying, "Jika kau fikirkan kau boleh, kau pasti boleh melakukan". Means, if you think u can, you surely can!

I received a call from an ex-student this week who is designing an induction program for new recruits about to embark upon a career in sales. He asked that if I had to create the "12 golden principles of selling," what would I come up with?
Clearly, this is not only a very subjective view, but also I found it terribly difficult to reduce my initial list of the essential rules of selling to just 12. However, mindful of the fact that this exercise is designed to provide guidance to salespeople just starting on the first rung of the ladder, here is my take on the 12 golden principles of selling.

Principle 1: Always Sell to People This may seem obvious, but it cannot be emphasized enough: You are not selling to an organization or to a conglomerate, but to actual, real people. It is important to remember that all people are different, so you cannot sell the same way to everyone.
Second, no two sales are the same, even if they are made to the same company under similar circumstances.
To become a good salesperson, it isn't enough to know how to sell. You must aim to become a people expert. It may sound shocking, but the best professional salespeople actually like people!
Remember, people buy from people -- they always will.

Principle 2: You Have To Sell Yourself Just as you are selling to people, you must also remember that you are not only selling and representing a product or service, but you are in effect selling yourself. When beginning a sales relationship, it is important to remember a few key aspects to representing yourself well. First, be interesting. If potential customers are bored by you, they have less of a chance of being enthralled by any product or service you are representing.
Develop intellect. Of course, you are an intelligent person, but can you converse in an intelligent manner? Can you discuss related subjects with thoughtfulness and hold your clients' interest?
Never be arrogant -- never talk up or down to your potential clients. It's rude and will serve only to alienate them. Respect the buyer, and they will respect you.
Along the same lines, develop your empathy levels. If you can relate to your customers' situations authentically, it helps to build rapport. Finally, control your ego levels. A good salesperson is patient and respectful, not an egomaniac.

Principle 3: You Must Ask Questions A good salesperson knows what questions to ask, and when. Develop your questioning techniques, always remembering the traditional rules of questioning: What? Where? When? Which? Why? Who? And how?
Continually test your understanding of the situation by asking questions and verifying that everybody's on the right track.

Principle 4: Listen To Understand Remember, God has given us two ears and one mouth; we should use them in that order! Successful sales professionals talk for 20 percent of the time and listen for 80 percent of the time. It's crucial for new salespeople to develop their active-listening
skills.

Principle 5: Features Must Be Linked to Benefits It's a standard sales component, but the features-and-benefits connection bears repeating and reminding: Features are common, but benefits are personal and specific. When describing the product or service you are selling, use "link phrases" when outlining the benefits of the features you are showing. Say, "Such and such is a feature of this service, which means that . . .' Remember to be specific.

Principle 6: Sell the Results -- Paint a Picture You want the outcome for your prospect to be rosy, but you need to convey that. Discover your prospect's "prime desires," and personalize the benefits to him or her. Describe the end results of the transaction and how it will improve the life of your prospect.

Principle 7: You Cannot Rely On Logic Emotion drives 84 percent of all buying decisions, not logic. What are the chief buying emotions? They include ego, security, pride of ownership, greed, health, prestige, status, ambition, and fear of loss. Be well aware of these emotions as you approach, engage and deal with your customers.

Principle 8: Selective Product Knowledge Is the Key A good salesperson realizes that buyers buy solutions and results; they do not buy products or services. Know the specific aspects of your product or service that will create your client's desired result.

Principle 9: Aim To Be Unique You want to convey to your customers an attitude of "me first," rather than "me too."
Every business, every company, every product has something that is unique, and this is what you need to stress. Look outside the square, and identify the uniqueness of your product, your service, your company -- and yourself.

Principle 10: Don't Sell on Price Selling on price is simply a cop out. You must value your expertise, your products and your services, and price accordingly. Always keep the bottom line firmly in your mind.
Remember, anyone can give business away. Selling merely on price means we do not need sales people!

Principle 11: Present Your Solutions When we present our proposals, rather than mailing, faxing or e-mailing, we increase the likelihood of a sale by a factor of 10 if we do so in person.

Principle 12: Be Professional at All Times The greatest compliment a customer can pay you is to describe you as "professional." Don't worry about being liked -- be respected. Being professional is not one thing, it is three: It is what you do, what you say, and how you present yourself.

.. Hello ..

.. I have created this blog for a while already but have not type anything in yet. Because i am too busy with my work. The truth is, I was not so sure what I wanted to share and I am not very good in typing essays.

Anyway, I have been browsing the internet that suddenly it occurs to me I could just write anything I want. I guess that everyday incidents would be very nice to share.

I am a salesman, that is what I use to remind myself. My main selling products is security products. In my carreer of selling I have met a lot of people. Being a Malaysian, most of them are very nice people. In my trading line, I have been to many places, entered many residential and offices. Sometimes, I even gone to strictly confidential room. Everyday is another day for me. No rutin and no de ja vu.

I love my job. If you are a marketing person, share your thought as I will share mine.
